This home was designed for hosting corporate events as well as functioning as the primary residence for the homeowner. The original English Tudor home was added onto, increasing its scale more than three fold. Catering kitchens, coat checks and grand spaces for gatherings both indoors and outdoors were important. A unique request from this client was a space for the local orchestra's stringed instrument section to practice.
Building and site layout had to balance the dual concepts of showing off the architecture and at the same time providing the needed privacy for outdoor gatherings of corporate events.
A corporate event entry and drop off was added to the home. The end of this new entry foyer terminated in a glass atrium that overlooked the private courtyard and pool.
The dual nature of the home becomes evident in the scale of the spaces.
Lower level spaces include a private dining room attached to a wine room serviced by an elevator and grand staircase. The upper levels include a private suite also serviced by an elevator and a staff apartment.
