Renwick is a mixed use TND (Traditional Neighborhood Development) community in Bloomington, Indiana. The community features single-family, townhomes, attached doubles, and multi-story apartment-style residential building types. The town center features retail and office buildings anchored by a fountain on the central plaza.
Renwick was designed as a series of neighborhoods with pocket parks that link to a main drive leading to the hilltop neighborhood center.
Mixed use retail and office buildings enclose the public plaza. The space is landscaped with varied planting beds and potted plants. The landscaping works with the fountain to create zones within the plaza for defined seating for the public and outdoor dining areas for the restaurants.
A mix of offices above retail front the plaza and are a short walk from the residential flats across the street.
The scale of wayfinding signage in the commercial areas works for both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The tower on the main restaurant building anchors the north corner of the plaza and acts as a landmark for the community.
The exterior side of the neighborhood center buildings walk down the hillside of the site on each side of the community entrance.
Rental flats are located across from the neighborhood center locating many customers close to the retail activity at the core of Renwick.
