A shingle style home with long range views overlooking a golf course demanded a dramatic view axis through the home to take advantage of a uniquely shaped lot within a community. Diagonal views were reinforced from the moment one entered the front door of the home.
Stained red cedar shingles and stone help the home nestle into its wooded setting. Stone fireplace mass anchors the corner of the front porch and unique window shapes and placement add to the playful nature of the homes exterior and interior spaces.
Multiple exterior screened and open porches allow the homeowner to enjoy the parklike setting of the lot from various living spaces within the home and different views up and down the golf course beyond.
Long expanses of walls were required to create a gallery of the homeowners artwork along the public circulation spine of the home. The staircase and its two story volume allow for unique views of the golf course while letting a playful cluster of windows bring light deep into the home.
The lower level became the main informal living space for the family with many rooms to house different focused activities.
