This mixed use corner of the Coffee Creek neighborhood in Chesterton Indiana includes a mix of retail and office users in a group of two story buildings. As a corner lot site, the goal was to address both streets with front facing storefront and architecture and create a series of interesting landscaped outdoor courtyard spaces for the retail and office spaces to overlook.
The client wanted the feeling of assembled facades in bays that gave each retail space a unique look to the street.
Providing a variety of storefront glass and shapes allows the inside space to overlook the courtyards as projecting rooms.
By pushing some buildings back, multiple building tenants can overlook and utilize the outdoor rooms created along the streets.
Site grades create unique entry elements along the public walk adding interest to the street.
The corner retail building acts as a visual anchor to the shops and is a landmark when traveling down two different streets within the Coffee Creek neighborhood.
A variety of signage types add interest to the facades and work for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic surrounding the retail block.
